The Milwaukee Bucks are on the verge of being eliminated from the NBA playoffs, and Giannis Antetokounmpo’s time in Milwaukee may be coming to a close within the next couple years. He has one year left on his contract, but he is eligible for a huge extension this offseason.

On the Hollinger & Duncan NBA Show Podcast, hosts John Hollinger and Nate Duncan discuss Giannis Antetokounmpo’s options and why it hasn’t worked out for Giannis and the Bucks so far in the playoffs.

Nate Duncan: Let me ask you this question: If you were advising him and your sole criterion was where is Giannis gonna win the most championships? Either this summer via trade or next summer? Where would you tell him to go?

John Hollinger: With Miami there's a credible threat, right? Because Miami has the cap space anyway. So that that makes it more plausible.

Nate: Um, I think it's Dallas. Okay, Porzingis and Luka and Giannis

John: You're basically going to play yet. I'm trying to think how this how this all works. Yeah, I mean that that can be pretty potent.

Nate: Giannis is the roll, man.

John: Yeah, and Porzingis stays up high and Luka's got the ball on his hands.

Nate: And Rick Carlisle is going to make sure that you don't have some guards standing right under the basket when you're trying to drive.

John: The thing you wonder about, is it I mean, you're right, if he wants to maximize championships, that could definitely be be an option. I wonder if that's a little too second banana-y for him.

Nate: Maybe, but if you can't shoot and you're not quite a good enough passer and you can't really post up and you can't create one-on-one offense in the half court, then you probably need to be a second banana if you want to win a championship. And that's one of one of the lessons that has come to me here in these last two playoffs, is despite his regular season dominance, no, I don't believe that Giannis can be the offensive engine of a team that's going to win a championship, the main guy, the only guy.
