When Jey Uso split off from The Bloodline to go it alone as a singles star, fans expected a very good match between the “Main Eventer” and his cousin, Roman Reigns and then… who really knew?

On paper, Uso had the fans behind him, had the look, and had a top-selling shirt crushing it on Shop.WWE.com but when the match came to an end in the same way every singles “Tribal Chief” match did in 2023, it became unclear what his ceiling was as a solo star, especially after he won the Undisputed Tag Team Championship from Judgment Day alongside Cody Rhodes a few months later.

Well, as it turns out, Uso has lived up to his name and has main-evented RAW repeatedly as one of WWE's most popular acts with in-arena crowds, going so far as to declare that he now owns the fireflies that once accompanied Bray Wyatt to the ring on social media, boldly declaring himself the “Yeeter of Worlds” in the process.

Discussing how it's felt to become a singles star in an interview with The Daily Mail, Uso put over Paul “Triple H” Levesque for helping him to find his footing, as he's now as confident as ever.

“I'm actually more confident than ever right now. I took all the tools that they gave me. During the pandemic era, being with Hunter and Heyman in the room, just with The Bloodline, just us, going over and spitting ideas. I learned all that, and now I apply it on my own. And then working with Hunter right now as a single competitor, it's cool. I feel like I finally, earned that respect now, and it's all love,” Jey Uso told The Daily Mail.

“Work seems easier right now, all that worrying stuff, being anxious all the time, it's out the way. Now I just go out there and I'm on the if I'm on the card that night, I make sure I'm bringing energy. That's just my thing. I just want to dial it up. During the show, when I come out, I feel like there's a spike here. Even if you never watched wrestling, it was like, ‘Alright, who's he? He's got to be a main player.'”

Has Triple H created a legitimately marketable Superstar who can become the Shawn Michaels of his tag team? Or has he instead created a monster that infuriates fans for his wrestling style – some folks were livid that he beat Ilja Dragunov on RAW – and general silliness? Could it be a mixture of both? Needless to say, it will be incredibly interesting to see how things shake out, as it's clear Uso is feeling himself right now and eager to see how far he can take this current run before the Usos inevitably reunite.

Jey Uso clarifies his comments on co-opting Bray Wyatt's fireflies.

After securing his win over Ilja Dragunov on RAW, Jey Uso was asked multiple questions by his good pal Jackie Redmond for a RAW Digital Exclusive, discussing his big win, his King of the Ring tournament, and the prospects of a rematch with Gunther in the semi-finals, but before they could end the interview, the former Undisputed Tag Team Champion was asked about his use of Bray Wyatt's fireflies, to which the “Main Eventer” delivered a much more respectful response.

“It's hard for me to explain my feelings, but man, when the fireflies come out, man, I think about him. We all think about him, the whole world think about him, the WWE Universe thinks about Bray Wyatt,” Jey Uso explained via Fightful. “So I'm just happy it organically happened with me, man. I ain't never asked for them. They just showed up. I know that's my dawg looking down on us, man. So, man, I love you. Bray Wyatt and the whole universe, man, I love all y'all for showing love, man. Fireflies always gonna be out here YEET-ing with your boy.”

Was it a bit unusual for Uso to declare himself the “Yeeter of Worlds” when Wyatt's passing is still so fresh in many fans and wrestlers' minds? Yes, that was certainly an eye-opening comment to put it kindly. Still, whether organically done or an idea heavily suggested by upper management – Redmond did ask Uso the question – in the end, Uso found a way to make a now-signature element of his presentation into a tribute to the falling star instead of a co-option of his gimmick, which feels like a far better option than what he initially said on social media.
