WWE fans tuning into the latest edition of the Royal Rumble were in for a nice surprise. There were chatters of famous women's MMA star Ronda Rousey entering the Royal Rumble, but nothing was set in stone coming into Saturday night. With 27 entrants already in, all hope seemed lost for a Rousey appearance.

Then, it happened. Entering in at the 28th spot, Ronda Rousey made her return back into the WWE, storming to the ring with her signature fury.

The ex-MMA star had been making small cameos since 2014. However, in 2018, Ronda Rousey made her debut during the Royal Rumble event, and would participate full-time for a year. Over that period, she would earn the RAW Women's Champion belt, and would defend it for a then-record 231 days. However, after her controversial title loss to Becky Lynch, she stepped off of the WWE ring.

Ronda Rousey's achievements predate her WWE career, though. Prior to her professional wrestling stint, Rousey broke multiple records and bodies in the UFC. She would make a name for herself with her vicious fighting style, eliminating opponents before they even knew it. Her 14-second win over Cat Zingano at UFC 184 stood as the shortest bout ever until Conor McGregor beat that time by one second.

With Rousey back in the fold for the WWE, it will be interesting where her storyline could go this time around. Perhaps another run at the Women's Championship is on hand here? Or maybe something involving the Bella twins, who also made their return in the Rumble and are rumored to be returning for a significant period of time.
