After 34 years in the business, Rey Mysterio knows when a young performer, especially a young luchador, has something special.

From working with his son, who blossomed in the Judgment Day following a heel turn, to giving his endorsement to El Hijo del Vikingo – even if he needs to tone it down a bit – and even his current status as the OG of Legado Del Fantasma under the LWO moniker, Mysterio has committed this final segment of his professional wrestling career to supporting the next generation of técnicos and rudos find their place in the professional wrestling world, as he won't be around forever to keep the spirit of Lucha Libre alive in WWE.

Sitting down for an interview with Ariel Helwani to talk all things Logan Paul, “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio, and beyond on the MMA Hour, Mysterio commented on the elevation of Dragon Lee from NXT to SmackDown and what he expects from the young luchador. Though Mysterio isn't willing to call Lee the “next Rey Mysterio,” as that's a tired saying at this point, he does think he could become “his version of Rey Mysterio,” which should make fans very excited indeed.

“I’ve been watching Dragon Lee and how he’s been growing,” Rey Mysterio told Ariel Helwani via Fightful. “The fact that he’s now brought up to SmackDown and is no longer part of NXT. He has a lot of potential to grow and be his own person. I’ve always said it’s very hard to duplicate someone. You’re never going to find another Undertaker, Kane, Eddie [Eddie Guerrero], Rey. When Dragon Lee makes his mark, and he will, he’s going to become his version of Rey Mysterio.”

After taking NXT, RAW, and now SmackDown by storm with the sort of high-flying phenomenon that has dazzled fans around the world in promotions like AEW, Ring of Honor, New Japan Pro Wrestling, and Lucha Libre AAA, it's clear WWE fans and creative alike are very high on Lee as a técnico. If he can learn from Mysterio and come into his own within the WWE Universe, well, maybe fans will be talking about who will be the next Dragon Lee at some point down the line.

Raquel Rodriguez weighs in on joining Rey Mysterio in the LWO.

Speaking of main roster WWE babyfaces with a Tex-Mex wrestling legacy, Raquel Rodriguez was recently interviewed by The Dallas Morning News about all things WWE, and writer Joey Hayden asked the three-time Women's Tag Team Champion if she would consider adding her name to the LWO roster alongside Rey Mysterio, Santos Escobar, and company.

To her credit, Rodriguez was open to answering the question and actually had some very interesting insight into the idea.

“Trust me there have been many thoughts of Raquel Rodriguez in the LWO. I would love to be a part of the LWO. Everyone who’s in the LWO at the moment are family to mE,” Raquel Rodriguez told The Dallas Morning News.

“I started just a little bit before [Cruz] Del Toro signed with NXT. And when he came in, he just immediately felt like a brother to me and we bonded immediately. He’s always been there for me. It’s really been hard that we’re on separate brands because again, it’s like family. Same thing for Escobar you know, Santos, he came into WWE, and immediately it just felt like I had another brother in the business. Rey Mysterio is one of the most humble, most amazing, most grateful people, human beings that you can meet on this planet. And on top of it, he is a WWE superstar. He is the underdog of the century. He does so many amazing things, not just for his fans and his people but for other wrestlers like myself, and so I always look up to him, as well. And Zelina, I just love my chiquita Zelina Vega. She’s so spicy, and she has so much attitude that she’s become like a little sister to me, and we really bonded over on SmackDown together and I would love to just be part of that that family that they’ve built because it’s a really strong family. And Joaquin [Wilde], too. I can’t forget to mention Joaquin, his beautiful wife, his beautiful baby girl who’s actually named Raquel, too. It’s like I’m already part of that family. In a sense, I do feel like I’m part of the LWO, it just hasn’t been made official yet.”

Should Paul “Triple H” Levesque make it official? Should Rodriguez join the LWO officially, or would that potentially limit Rodriguez's potential like it has for Escobar on the main roster? Fans will have to wait and see.
