After defeating Jordynne Grace in a surprisingly bloody NXT Battleground match featuring outside interference from Tatum Paxley and Dana Brooke/Ash by Ellegance, you would think Roxanne Perez would be in a pretty good mood, right? Securing a massive win in front of a receptive crowd while being lauded for her in-ring abilities?

Theoretically, yes, one would assume that to be the case, but this new, moody “Prodigy” is a different sort of beast entirely, and in an NXT Digital Exclusive segment from the UFC Apex, Perez instead wanted to trash anyone who didn't believe in her, as they were once again proven wrong.

“Are you surprised? Tell me right now, are you surprised?” Roxanne Perez asked via Fightful. “Of course you are, aren’t you? Because everybody was surprised. But why? Why? I’m The Prodigy. There's no one like me.”

Before Perez could berate her former fans any more, who but CM Punk emerged from the back, asking the “Prodigy” to chill out and remember who she was.

“Hold up, just calm down one second. I’m sorry to bust in here. Listen, you’re the champion for a reason. You’re head and shoulders above all these women here. You’re head and shoulders above all the TNA Knockouts,” CM Punk declared. “But tonight, you got lucky. I need you to focus on this. I need you to be who you are, I need you to be The Prodigy. You don’t need anything else.”

Clearly miffed by Punk's insertion into her segment, Perez left him with a short and sweet message that had a certain “Anxcious Millennial Cowboy” pumping his fist like the end of the Breakfast Club.

“Thanks for the advice,” Perez said with an attitude. “What a hypocrite, huh?”

Dang, for being so anti-AEW, Punk sure is greenlighting a lot of retread storylines from All Elite Land, specifically ones where people don't want him around or don't respect him anymore. And the best part? WWE's most chronically online Superstar, Drew McIntyre, was loving every minute of it, reposting the video segment with his own commentary on the situation.

“Even people who grew up idolizing CM Punk are already sick of him,” Drew McIntyre declared.

Was this a one-off segment between Punk and Perez, or is he going to start flying into Orlando International Airport on Tuesdays moving forward for this semi-mentorship angle with Rok-C as he rehabs for a future match with the “Scottish Warrior?” Either way, it's safe to say McIntyre will be there every step of the way to talk trash on the “Best in the World.”

Roxanne Perez sang a different CM Punk tune pre-Battleground.

While Roxanne Perez has seemingly turned on CM Punk for trying to take her moment after NXT Battleground, in the lead-up to the show, the “Prodigy” was singing a very different tune, telling Adrian Hernandez that she appreciated his insight into how to take criticism of her who and why social media really isn't real life.

“There's so many, especially when you bring up like all of those names. I do remember one of the first times that CM Punk ever got to watch me live. I had asked him if he could give me some feedback for my match and he said he would in a second. He was sitting right next to me watching another match,” Roxanne Perez told Adrian Hernandez via Fightful.

“As soon as it finished, I'm like, I'm scrolling on Twitter, and he like leans back, and he sees what I'm doing on my phone, and he goes, stop looking at that. stop looking at that. It doesn't matter what they say. It doesn't matter if they love you. It doesn't matter if they hate you. You keep on going out there and doing what you do and proving to everyone why you are in this you are in the spot that you are in. That literally was just like very eye-opening, especially coming from someone like him that has done so much in the wrestling business. Clearly, he doesn't give a d**n about what anybody thinks about him. At 22 years old, it's obviously a little hard to not like, kind of social media is everything for us, right? I have him to be able to give me that advice and steer me in the right direction.”

What? Did Perez truly turn on Punker that quickly, or is this an example of Kayfabe, with the character Roxanne Perez being annoyed with the “Best in the World” while Carla Gonzalez still values him as a mentor? There is much to think about, NXT fans, much to think about, indeed.
