Heading into Clash at the Castle, Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill felt like the second-most protected champions on the Glasgow-based card, coming in behind Cody Rhodes but a close second due to the seemingly unbeatable nature of their tag team.

On paper, it made sense, right? Sure, the duo had to defend their titles in a three-way match, which meant that they could lose the match without eating a pin, but why would WWE pull the trigger on their reign when it was still so fresh? By having Belair and Cargill work together, Creative could elevate the duo without having to pit them against each other, all the while keeping both performers out of the main event scene and out of each other's crosshairs for good measure, too.

Well, as shocking as it may sound, that's exactly what happened, with Isla Dawn of the Unholy Union pinning Shayna Baszler in shocking fashion to secure the win, even if Belair and Cargill did all the work of laying out the “Submission Magician.”

What gives? Why did WWE end one of the more popular acts on SmackDown when they are still so early in their run? Or could this have had more to do with giving the local fans a surprise win featuring two of their local stars, including one who was born in Glasgow mere miles from the OVO Hydro, with the former champs getting a rematch and another title run in the not-too-distant future? While only time will tell, for one night, fans got to see their local stars made good in the eyes of the WWE Universe, and in the moment, that decision seemed worth it.

Bianca Belair was excited about tag teaming with Jade Cargill in WWE.

While their championship reign certainly didn't last nearly as long as some fans had hoped, it would appear that isn't because the tag team had internal animosity or disliked being in each other's company. No, in an interview with Ring The Belle, Bianca Belair actually put over Jade Cargill for being a great partner, even if they have to spend a surprising amount of time coordinating gear to look like a cohesive unit.

“Yeah, it's very interesting. You know, I've always wanted to be very, very hands-on, I've always wanted to be very unique and I've only had to think about myself. So now when you're with someone else, it's not just affecting them. So I have to try to run ideas by her. But it's really cool because we get to bounce ideas off each other. It's interesting, there are certain colors that I love and certain colors that she doesn't like, and I'm just like, ‘Okay, but I like that color.' Our text thread is just nonstop of us trying to figure out what we want to do. We have so many other ideas that we're just trying to find the perfect time to do it,” Bianca Belair told Ring the Belle via 411 Mania.

“For Backlash, we were bouncing ideas back around. She loves the latex material. I love gold chains. So that kind of like all came together. For Queen and King of the Ring, I was like, ‘Listen, we have ab, we need to show it off. Let's do this steel ab thing. So we were able to do that together. So it's really cool because I feel like when I come out by myself, it's one thing. But, when you have two people coming out in the same thing, it just hits different.”

While Belair and Cargill haven't completely gelled together as a team just yet, in the former's opinion, the pairing has been a fruitful endeavor, as they have found a way to work together that is both collaborative and fun to boot.

“It's been fun. It's just a collaborative effort. I'm very very intense with my designs, and I'm very hands-on, but I am with someone who is equally as yoked as me and it's very specific. So it's a good thing. But also sometimes it's just like, we're indecisive, and it takes forever. I'm probably driving her to your maker crazy because I do everything last minute.”

Could WWE ultimately split up Belair and Cargill, forging a rivalry that could extend far into the future as the duo vie for similar accomplishments within the WWE Universe? On paper, it always felt like that was a possibility, as WWE could use some new long-term frenemies situations now that Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch are no longer under contract, but whether that happens this close to Money in the Bank remains to be seen, as who knows, maybe the duo will have the belts back in time for the June 6th PLE, or at least have a title shot at the show against the Unholy Union.
