WWE Rumors say that former NXT North American Champion Roderick Strong has recently asked WWE management for his release from his contract.
The former NXT North American Champion, former NXT Cruiserweight Champion, and two-time former NXT Tag Team Champion has recently asked for his release from his WWE contract, Fightful Select reports. This comes as a shock, as Strong has persevered in WWE for a long time even after being left behind by his former stablemates in Undisputed Era. He is also among the longest-tenured wrestlers in NXT at this point, having been with WWE's developmental brand since 2016.
Article Continues BelowDuring his time with NXT, Roderick Strong started out as a fan favorite, before turning heel when he joined the Undisputed Era. He would play mostly as a background character for the majority of the UE's run, although his stablemates would often help him in his matches and would help him earn multiple championships with them. However, as a singles competitor, Strong never had a compelling storyline with NXT that elevated him the same way that NXT did his stablemates Adam Cole, Kyle O'Reilly, and Bobby Fish. With the departure of the three, Strong was left behind and was then put into a new stable called The Diamond Mine. This new stable also never fully took off, and, with the recent release of Malcolm Bivens, the stable's manager, this might mean bad news for them.
Now that Roderick Strong is rumored to be leaving the show as well, the future of The Diamond Mine looks dim. The Creed Brothers are over, though, and are bound to win the NXT Tag Team Championship soon. It is then imperative that NXT decide soon on what they will do to the stable and the tag team itself soon, as The Diamond Mine now stands on a cross road.
