After making his way from England to SmackDown in order to call out Rey Mysterio formally for a match at Crown Jewel with the United States Championship on the line, Logan Paul shocked fans in the Lonestar State with his presence, letting fans know exactly why he was there and what he plans to do in Saudi Arabia.
“Dallas, Texas, so much love. Listen y'all, do you know what I just found out?” Logan Paul asked the audience in Dallas. “That fool that I beat in my boxing fight last weekend, embarrassed himself so badly that he got dropped by his fight league. Dropped, so that means not only did I make him lose the fight, I made him lose his job. Oof, unemployed, unhappy, unfulfilled, sucks to be that guy. But Dallas, now that he's a free agent now, I might be being a bit had on that guy because technically, I'm a free agent now too. So all of you little Logan Paul haters back at home watching this, qucikly go, run to your keyboards because when I defeat Rey Mysterio at Crown Jewel and become the United States Champion, Imma giva y'all something to talk about. And once I am champion, I might even have to come back to RAW to defend my title.”
Fortunately, or not, depending on your preference, Paul's time in the ring as a solo act came to an end, and the music of none other than Dominik Mysterio hit to resounding boos from the crowd in Dallas. But what did Mysterio have to way? Was he friend or foe for the “Maverick” in the home of the Dallas Mavericks?
Well, as it turns out, Mysterio's enemy of his enemy is his friends, and in Paul, he'd found a kindred spirit, even if his exact words were hard to decipher amid the boos.
“I appreciate that, Dom, but you know, your dad was right about us,” Paul told his fast friend. “You and I, amazing natural ability, dripping with passion, but Rey left out one thing, Rey left out everything we had to overcome. Dominik, this man grew up with a deadbeat dad and he still someone managed to become the champion of an entire continent. Wow. Me, a kid from Ohio, overcame the odds, followed his passions, blazed his own trail, changed the landscape of sports and entertainment. So truthfully, the only person around here who needs a humbling is Dominik's father Rey.”
“After Crown Jewel, you will be a champion, and I'll be the only Mysterio with a title,” Dominik Mysterio screamed over the crowd.
“That's absolutely right, Dom, I can see it so vividly: Logan Paul, WWE's United States Champion,” Paul announced. “Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, I cannot wait for that ring announcement.”
Turning his attention from Mysterio to the girlfriend of his SummerSlam opponent, Samantha Irvin, Paul decided to force the ring announcer into the squared circle in order to poke a little extra fun at Ricochet, who responded by sneak attacking the heels and running them out of the ring, signifying that those wounds may still be fresh enough to rekindle if and when the “Maverick” officially becomes a champion in at Crown Jewel.

Transitioning from one spectacle performer to another, Eric Bischoff was recently asked if there were any performers he felt exceeded his expectations during his time in WCW during a virtual signing for K&S WrestleFest.
Though Bischoff found plenty of interesting talents during his time helming Nitro, Thunder, and the like, the one star who rose above the rest was none other than Rsy Mysterio, who went from a bottom of the card guy to one of the most interesting performers in all of professional wrestling.
“Rey Mysterio. That would be my go-to, man. He was — keep in mind, when I brought him in he’d been performing for a long time. It’s not like he was straight out of a training facility. He had a tremendous amount of experience as a very, very young performer. So that by the time he got to to to WCW, I was not aware of any of his work previously. But when he came to WCW, when I had seen him just before that it was like, ‘Oh my God, this is otherworldly kind of s**t. Never would have imagined though that he would have become such an important part of the industry,” Eric Bischoff said via 411 Mania.
“I think he’s — Rey Mysterio can, I think, take credit for the expansion of the interest in the lucha product here in the United States. I think a lot of people are getting opportunities because of Rey Mysterio. They would have never gotten the opportunities that Rey Mysterio got or they’re not getting if it weren’t for Rey and what he brought to the game.”
Though it is hard to recall now, as Mysterio has been a fixture of American wrestling television for a very, very, very long time, there was a time when his schtick was borderline revolutionary, with fans marveling at everything he could do inside and out of the professional wrestling ring. Maybe the day will eventually come when fans feel the same about Logan Paul, too.
