The Green Bay Packers are shaping up to be one of the best teams in the league once again with Aaron Rodgers under center. They may have a little divisional battle with the Minnesota Vikings, but for now, Green Bay is in a prime position to win the NFC North. However, with the lack of receiving options in the passing game, someone is going to need to step up and play well. With that in mind, we go over one surprising X-Factor for the Packers in the 2022 NFL season.

All eyes are on Allen Lazard right now as he’s pegged to be the top wide receiver in the passing game. Additionally, many are excited for the newly acquired rookie Christian Watson. The Packers may feed them the ball often throughout the course of the season. But since they’re expected to be involved, it shouldn’t come as a surprise if they both play well.

Another X-Factor option is AJ Dillon who aims to receive more work behind Aaron Jones. However, considering he’s already shown flashes, we should expect to see Dillon make some noise this year. Instead, the Packers will need someone else on the roster to make an impact, especially if they hope to make a deep run in the playoffs.

With that said, here is the one surprising X-Factor to emerge for the Packers in the 2022 NFL season.

Amari Rodgers

He didn’t have a great rookie year but entering the second season of his career, Amari Rodgers could emerge as a top target for Aaron Rodgers. He’s looked good in the offseason so far and will have a legitimate chance to earn a role in the offense during training camp. With a strong showing, Rodgers could become the X-Factor the Packers need to succeed.

His slow start in the NFL is reminiscent of his start in college. During his time at Clemson, Amari Rodgers only totaled 123 receiving yards his freshman year. However, by the time he reached the final season of his collegiate career, Rodgers became a vital weapon for the Tigers, putting up an impressive stat line of 77 receptions, 1,020 receiving yards, and seven touchdowns. This makes him an intriguing pass option in the Packers’ offense.

At the very least, Amari Rodgers can play a vital role as a slot receiver. He has the perfect size and agility and can be lethal after the catch. The Packers could use that type of athleticism out of the slot, as he’d perfectly complement the outside receiving threats in Allen Lazard and Christian Watson.

Even so, Rodgers will need to prove himself in training camp. It’ll be difficult to earn a legitimate role, as there are multiple veteran wide receivers fighting for a roster spot as well. Amari Rodgers is going up against guys like Randall Cobb and Sammy Watkins, who are each favored to earn more playing time than the second-year wide receiver. Regardless, he has youth on his side and after a full season under his belt, Amari Rodgers could become the next target for the Packers.

Keep an eye on the young prospect, as he has the opportunity of a lifetime to become a top pass option for Aaron Rodgers. The Packers are going to need someone to step up in the wide receiver room and now is the time for Amari Rodgers to make his case.
