It’s been a while since we’ve seen the Denver Broncos truly be competitive. They’ve been a middle-of-the-pack team for several years and something has to change soon. The front office has made some big moves to the coaching staff, which gives the franchise an improved outlook. Even so, we take a gander at the three Broncos major fixes that must be made for this team to make the NFL Playoffs next year.

The offensive play-calling has been abysmal and must improve. Denver hired Nathaniel Hackett as the head coach who called plays for the prolific Green Bay Packers offense. We’ll see if he can bring that to the Broncos, as this is a necessary fix for this franchise.

Another area of concern for the Broncos is the defensive line. The defense is solid throughout, but Denver has a chance to put themselves over the top in the offseason. Additionally, it’s time for the front office to fill the biggest hole on the team and get a competent quarterback. If they can manage that, we should see this franchise in the postseason next year.

With that said, here are our three Broncos major fixes for their NFL playoff hopes in 2022.

Broncos Major Fixes for NFL Playoffs in 2022

3. Ensure better offensive play calling

Denver is already working on improving in this area after bringing Nathaniel Hackett to lead the team. He’s worked alongside Aaron Rodgers, proving he knows how to call plays for an elite offense in the NFL. This is exactly what this offense needs, as they’ve been stagnant the last several seasons.

Hackett will surely input his offensive scheme into the Broncos’ offense. It’ll be tough for this team to become playoff contenders though, as the AFC West is one of the most competitive divisions in the NFL. Regardless, Denver should feel confident about their postseason hopes with Nathaniel Hackett leading the way.

2. Improve the defensive line

Defense isn’t too big of a concern for the Broncos, but addressing the defensive line could put this team over the top. Right now, Denver has relied on their strong secondary and linebacker groups. The defensive line isn’t too exciting, but they’ve gotten the job done regardless. If they can reel in some top-level talent into the trenches, this team won’t be losing many games next season.

If this comes to fruition, Denver would likely contain their opponents even more so. The Broncos have a decent amount of cap space and could make an all-in move in the offseason. Furthermore, there is some serious talent available in the upcoming NFL Draft that could help this defense immediately. Look for the front office to potentially make a splash pick in April.

1. Get a legitimate starting quarterback

This has been a goal for the Broncos for a few years now. However, now is the time to acquire a talented quarterback around the league. Many believe Denver is a quarterback away from becoming a playoff contender once again, and it’s hard to disagree with that statement. For that reason, the front office should get aggressive and trade for a superstar quarterback.

With Aaron Rodgers rumors already swirling, Denver has an opportunity to make a big move in the offseason. There is speculation that Rodgers is the perfect fit for the Broncos, as he’d be rejoining Nathaniel Hackett. Another possible option is Russell Wilson, who is another top quarterback that will be prevalent in the NFL rumor mill. The front office can’t go wrong with either Rodgers or Wilson, and they should pull the trigger as soon as possible.
