Alec Baldwin has been making headlines recently for reasons he probably doesn't want to. Now, he's in the news for knocking a phone out of someone's hand after they harassed him.

That said, he seemed to have good reason to. THR reports that the woman was filming the actor and verbally harassing him at a coffee shop while he was on the phone on Monday night in NYC.

Alec Baldwin gets harassed at NYC coffee shop

In the video clip, you hear the woman say, “Why did you kill that lady?” Baldwin is trying to ignore her and doesn't answer back.

“You killed that lady, got no jail time,” she continued. “No jail time, Alec. You're putting innocent people in jail, Alec Baldwin. Free Palestine Alec. Just one time, and I'll leave you alone. I'll leave you alone. I swear.”

At this point, Alec heads to the front door, seemingly trying to leave, but he stops and says, “Get out now.”

The lady refused to leave, even though someone else at the coffee shop told her to exit. The actor then asks to call the police.

“F–k Israel,” the woman continued. “F–k Zionism, please say it.”

Then, it gets a bit dicey. Baldwin enters back into the coffee shop and asks an employee to do him a favor. It then looks like he slaps the phone out of the person's hand, and the clip ends and goes dark.

The woman harassing him is known as Crackhead Barney & Friends on X. She posted up the clip on her account. With it, there's a caption that reads, “White devil Alec Baldwin attacked me While I was trying to get coffee.”

Comments on the post seem to lean more towards having the actor's back.

“You were harassing him while he was trying to get coffee. You're not an activist, you're a narcissist,” wrote one user.

Someone else said, “It's really hard to make Alec Baldwin seem like the sane one in an encounter, but you managed it. Congrats.”

“Was this your final assignment for clown college?” another asks.

“You were really out of line badgering him and harassing,” someone said. “Lots of people looking at your post now…and commenting…so are you…happy?”

All of this comes amidst turmoil, considering all of the pro-Palestine demonstrations on college campuses and elsewhere.

As for Baldwin, he's been in a legal battle regarding the Rust shooting that took the life of Halyna Hutchins on set. He was charged with involuntary manslaughter after an earlier charge was dismissed. Variety reported that the star and other producers have a settlement of the family's wrongful death lawsuit that was finalized in March 2023.

Whatever your feelings are of Alec Baldwin, harassment is harassment, and the altercation with him from this X user smells of her wanting attention or to spark a reaction from him in which she could sue. The situation seems entirely uncalled for, and it's hard to blame him for knocking the phone out of her hands.

Let's hope it's a bit more civil next time he goes out for coffee.
