Directing duo Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are fresh off of Bad Boys 4 (aka Bad Boys: Ride or Die). Rumors have attached them to the upcoming Tom Holland-led Spider-Man 4. If they direct it, they have a wish for Michael Keaton‘s Vulture.

Speaking to ComicBook at the Bad Boys 4 premiere, they addressed the rumors. The film was distributed by Sony, who co-finance the Spider-Man films with Marvel Studios. It doesn't sound like they've heard the rumors, though.

“It came out of nowhere, because we've got the Sony bosses here, and they didn't tell us anything,” Arbi said in jest.

Fallah shared his reaction. As a fan of the superhero, he admitted it'd be “cool” if they got the gig. “I'm a superfan of Spider-Man, so you can imagine, when I was reading that, I was like, ‘Whoa — that would be cool,” he said.

ComicBook then asked if Arbi and Fallah would be interested in bringing Keaton back into the fold. He played the Vulture in the first Holland-led Spider-Man film, Homecoming.

“We're going to bring Michael Keaton in everything now,” Adil jokingly said.

Michael Keaton's Vulture hasn't been seen in the MCU since Spider-Man: Homecoming. He did have a cameo in Morbius, but that has not been followed up with. Coming up, Keaton will return to another iconic role, Beetlejuice, in Tim Burton's upcoming sequel.

What is Bad Boys 4 about?

Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah took over the director's chair from Michael Bay beginning with Bad Boys For Life (the third film in the series). Despite coming out right before the pandemic, Bad Boys for Life was a hit and made over $400 million worldwide.

They returned for Bad Boys: Ride or Die, the fourth film, which brings Will Smith and Martin Lawrence back as Mike and Miles, respectively.

In the film, they work with Miami PD to disprove a posthumous conspiracy involving Captain Conrad Howard (Joe Pantoliano). It accuses him of working with the Romanian Mafia. This turns Mike and Miles into fugitives and they have to work outside of the law to solve the mystery and clear their names.

The MCU's Spider-Man 4

After a trilogy of successful Spider-Man films, the MCU and Sony will make a fourth film. Holland and Zendaya led the first trilogy of films.

Tom Holland was first introduced in the MCU as Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War. His subsequent solo film, Homecoming, made over $880 million worldwide at the box office. Two sequels, Far From Home and No Way Home, were made.

Both of the sequels were huge hits. Far From Home and No Way Home both made over $1 billion worldwide during their theatrical runs and are the two highest-grossing films in the entire Spider-Man franchise.

Jon Watts directed all three MCU Spider-Man films (and co-wrote Homecoming). He first gained notoriety for directing Clown and Cop Car. However, he has since departed the franchise.

His upcoming film, Wolfs, will be released later in 2024. Brad Pitt and George Clooney star in the film.

That leaves a void in the franchise for a new director. Bad Boys' Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah could be the ones to step up to the plate.
