With only a day to go before Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) and Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) finally seal the deal in Bridgerton season three part two, discussions are already being had for which sibling is getting their own love story play out on screen next, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Will it be Luke Thompson's Benedict (book number three of Julia Quinn's series, An Offer From a Gentleman) or will it be Claudia Jessie's Eloise (book number five, To Sir Phillip, With Love)? Or how about Hannah Dodd's Francesca (book number six, When He Was Wicked)? Alas, dearest gentle reader, we won't find out soon.

Showrunner Jess Brownell told THR at the UK premiere for season three part two, “I have almost slipped up a couple of time so keep asking, and maybe I'll slip up.”

Which Bridgerton will be next?

Netflix confirms Bridgerton Season 3 release date, but there's a catch

“I'm really excited about what we're writing. We're towards the end with the writers room season, with the scripts. And I feel like it's some of my best work and my writers room's best work. We've just really gelled our collaboration, and we're firing on all cylindrs so I can't wait for fans to see what we have,” she added.

And as for the timeframe, Brownell said that she and the Bridgerton writers room are working hard to put the seasons out more quickly. However, “they do take eight months to film and then they have to be edited, and then they have to dubbed into every language.”

“And the writing takes a very long time as well, so we're kind of on a two-year pace, we're trying to speed up but somewhere in that range,” she continued.

Bridgerton fans are quite opinionated, especially online. When asked if they would be okay with this timeframe, she replied, “I think it's hard to say. There's so many different ships.”

However, Brownell let one thing slip, “I think one of the ships is going to be very, very happy.”

Before we can get to guessing as to whose ship we think will sail, the showrunner praised the performances of the power couples who were there at the premiere.

“I am so proud of how this season has performed and so grateful to the fans for tuning in. I think every season, the momentum builds more and more, and I think we have a debt to pay to the actors in seasons one and two for helping build enthusiasm. Then, I think Nicola and Luke have helped build a lot of enthusiasm.

The ships that have sailed and will yet to sail

Season one (The Duke and I) focused on love story between Simon Bassett (Regé-Jean Page), the Duke of Hastings, and the eldest Bridgerton daughter Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor). Season two (The Viscount Who Loved Me) was about Anthony (Jonathan Bailey), Viscount Bridgerton, and Kathani “Kate” Sharma (Simone Ashley). We took a detour when we got the pleasant surprise of Queen Charlotte's (the younger played by India Amarteifio) story with King George (the younger played by Cory Mylchreest) written for Netflix by Shonda Rhimes and Quinn.

Currently, we're awaiting the second part of Colin and Penelope's story.

Since Netflix and Shondaland has opened the doors of switching up which stories go first instead of going by chronological order, I think there's a logical possibility that season four could go the way of Francesca and her husband. SPOILER ALERT! I hedge because we met Lord John Stirling (Victor Alli) in season three part one.

But if you are a dear reader, you know that's not a happy ending. But since we were introduced to this particular love interest, it's logical to think that this tees this couple up for the next season. And Queen Charlotte (the elder played by Golda Rosheuvel) has been quite interested in matching her up this season.

However, if we are to go by chronological order, then it's Benedict's turn. We have not yet seen the woman he'll marry, but book readers know who she is. I'm not saying her name just yet since the second part of season three might give clues.

But it's not going to be surprising if Brownell and the writers room decide to go with Eloise instead since the first part of season one did have us meet her future husband, Sir Phillip Crane (Chris Fulton).

The unfortunate thing is we have to wait for two years! In the mean time, we can all enjoy the now trademark Bridgerton orchestral covers.

Let the speculation begin.
