Britney Spears' ex-husband is breaking his silence on the alleged hotel incident that went down this week. Sam Asghari, who Spears married in 2022, told Us Weekly that he “feels terrible” over the situation.

“Sam will always have a soft spot for Britney and will always be protective over her,” a source told the outlet. “Sam is a helper and was there for her in her hardest times. He hopes she is OK.”

Spears and her rumored partner Paul Richard Soliz allegedly got into a fight at the Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood on Wednesday (May 1) according to multiple reports.

“I would like respect at this time for people to understand I am getting stronger everyday !!!” Spears wrote of the alleged incident on social media Thursday (May 2). “Truth sucks so can someone teach me how to lie ??? Goddesses out there, I'm reaching my higher power and furthermore, I hope you guys are too !!!”

She added that she had twisted her ankle and that paramedics came to hotel room to help. However, the pop star was not taking too kindly of the help and wrote that they ” showed up at my door illegally.”

“They never came in my room,” she added, “but I felt completely harassed.”

In the same message, she revealed that she would be moving from Los Angeles to Boston soon.

An eyewitness to the alleged incident told Entertainment Tonight, “Britney came out with Paul Richard Soliz and some others. Someone gave her a blanket to throw over and she had a pillow covering her front. She took a few steps and turned around and went back, not getting into the stretcher they had brought out.” It was not confirmed the ambulance was called for Spears, but she was not taken to the hospital.

A source told CNN that Britney is now “home and safe.

Sam Asghari and Britney Spears Settle Divorce

Coincidently, the incident happened the day it was announced that Asghari and Spears' divorce had been settled.

According to legal documents obtained by People, Spears, and Asghari have agreed to follow the terms of their prenuptial agreement.

“The divorce was amicable and the prenup was not challenged,” a source tells PEOPLE. “Britney is continuing to flex her freedom and is moving on.”

According to a source per Us Weekly, the prenup states that Asghari will receive “$1 million per every two years” of their marriage, with a cap at $10 million after 15 years. Spears and Asghari were married for 14 months.

While the former couple has settled their divorce, they are still not legally single, TMZ reports. A judge will soon file papers to finalize the divorce.

Asghari cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the divorce filing back in August. A day later, Asghari broke his silence on their split via Instagram Story that they “decided to end our journey together.” He added: “We will hold onto the love and respect we have for each other and I wish her the best always. S—t happens. Asking for privacy seems [ridiculous] so I will just ask for everyone including media to be kind and thoughtful.”

Britney Spears also commented on the divorce via Instagram on August 18.

“As everyone knows, Hesam and I are no longer together. 6 years is a long time to be with someone so, I’m a little shocked but … I’m not here to explain why because it’s honestly nobody’s business!!!” she captioned an Instagram post. “But, I couldn’t take the pain anymore honestly !!! In some sort of telepathic way, I have been receiving so many messages that melt my heart from friends and I thank you!!!”
