The Arizona Cardinals are set to take on the Los Angeles Rams in their first playoff game of the postseason. The Wild Card matchup will take place Monday night in Los Angeles, and the Cardinals could have a crucial part of their run game back just in time for game time.
James Conner suffered a ribs injury in the Cardinals' Week 18 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. He did not practice all week, which made it seem like the running back would be out for Monday night's matchup.
However, good news came out of the Cardinals' practice on Saturday. According to head coach Kliff Kingsbury, Conner was able to participate and “do some things” in practice. ESPN staff writer Josh Weinfuss tweeted the news Saturday afternoon, adding that Conner will be a game-time decision.
This would be a huge boost for the Cardinals' offense, which is struggling with injured running backs. Chase Edmonds is also dealing with a ribs injury and was limited in practice on Friday. He missed the Cardinals' season finale against the Seahawks and is questionable for the Wild Card game.
Conner has missed a lot of game time recently since he suffered a heel injury in the Cardinals' shocking Week 15 loss to the Detroit Lions. He missed both Week 16 and Week 17, only to return Week 18 and pick up another injury.
If the Cardinals can secure a win against the Rams Monday night, they will advance in the playoff tournament and play the winner of San Francisco 49ers vs Dallas Cowboys.
