The Los Angeles Chargers and Joey Bosa were able to finalize a contract that makes him the highest-paid defensive player in the NFL. While the Chargers prepare for training camp, Anthony Lynn shared his excitement on the team getting an extension done with Bosa.

Per Joe Reedy of the Associated Press:

“Joey is tied down for a little while and we’re all excited about it. We have some other guys with contracts coming up but time will tell,” Lynn said, via ProFootballTalk. “It’s one less distraction you have to deal with.”

Earlier this week, Chargers general manager Tom Telesco gave an update on an extension with Bosa. Telesco uttered that there wasn't anything contract-wise to speak about when it came to the Pro Bowl edge rusher. However, just days later, Los Angeles inked Bosa to a massive five-year, $135 million contract extension.

With the Chargers gearing up for the 2020 season, Lynn is happy that a deal got done before training camp. In doing so, the talks of Bosa and the team possibly working on an extension won't be a distraction moving forward. At the same time, Lynn is pleased that Bosa's situation was handled better than the one involving Melvin Gordon last season.

“It didn’t work out with Melvin last year but glad it worked out now,” Lynn said. “It’s my job to build these players up and make them feel like Superman. When they want to get paid like Superman I step back.”

Similar to every other team, the Chargers have players besides Bosa that are seeking a new contract with the team. While the team looks forward to the future, Lynn is ecstatic that Los Angeles has one less player to worry about when it comes to an extension.
