Heading into his rookie campaign, wide receiver Mike Williams had eyes toward making a significant impact with the Los Angeles Chargers. However, it was anything but that as injuries derailed much of his first year limiting his level of effectiveness on the field.

Williams enters this offseason with a full bill of health to bounce back after a subpar showing in his rookie campaign. According to Ricky Henne of Chargers.com, the 23-year-old voiced his excitement about the opportunity to demonstrate why he was a high first-round pick in last year's draft.

“I’m excited about this year to not only prove to everybody else, but prove to myself that I know who I am and what I can be,” he explained. “I’m real confident in my abilities.  I wasn’t capable of doing what I can do last year because of the injury.  This offseason, I feel 100%.  I’m ready to go out there and dominate. Everyone faces adversity.  It shows what kind of player you are when you can bounce back from adversity. I’m looking to redeem myself and show everyone what I’m capable of doing.”

The fact that he has been able to go through his first official offseason healthy should be a major benefit to him getting back on track to being a major factor in the passing game that he aspired to be in the 2017 season. It should allow for him to garner a much tighter relationship and bond with Pro Bowl quarterback Philip Rivers that could set the table to a huge second year for the former Clemson product.

Williams had injured his back less than two after the first day of rookie minicamp last offseason that forced him to miss the rest of the team's offseason workout program and training camp. He hadn't been cleared to practice until the regular season, which put him behind the eight ball in terms of finding his way into the fold as an effective option in the passing game. It also didn't help that he was dealing with lingering effects from the injury that prevented him from truly becoming a viable receiving threat.

He has an opportunity in front of him to help form a dynamic duo alongside Pro Bowl wideout Keenan Allen to help lift the Chargers to playoff contentions and possibly further next season. All of this could set the table for Williams to experience a highly productive campaign.
