The Los Angeles Chargers are considered favorites to beat the Miami Dolphins in their Sunday matchup. However, they will be playing without one of their more important playmakers on offense in Travis Benjamin.

The wide receiver has been listed as doubtful over the past couple of days as the team assesses whether it's worth the risk trotting Benjamin out there. The Chargers decided that it wasn't worth the risk, though.

Adam Schefter confirmed the news in an update.

Schefter pointed out the big problem the Chargers have with their injury problems. Fifteen players aren't available to play for L.A. against Miami. It's still true that they are still considered favorites over the Dolphins; however, the personnel drain due to injury is a headache no head coach ever wants to have.

While Benjamin has never been WR1 for the Chargers, he has always been a reliable option whenever he is called upon. This season, he's only been targeted ten times, catching four for 17 receiving yards.

Fortunately for Anthony Lynn, one of his star players will be able to play against the Dolphins. However, he's still not in fighting form as he held out to get the contract he felt he deserved.

Trainer Todd Durkin revealed that the running back is ready to take some reps for the Chargers if needed, but he's still far from playing shape. The team took that into consideration and will only field him for the game's important moments.

There's also another player that Lynn can count on for catches and a slot in the record books.

It will be interesting to see how the Chargers will play with such a drained core of players. However, fans will be hoping that they have enough talent to see the underwhelming Dolphins off.
