Los Angeles Chargers starting quarterback in Tyrod Taylor was sidelined in their game against the Kansas City Chiefs due to a chest injury. The condition of the ten-year veteran will be monitored by the team on a week to week basis.

ESPN Senior NFL insider Adam Schefter reported the developing situation surrounding the quarterback via a post on Twitter:

Tyrod Taylor led the Chargers' offense as they opened the 2020 NFL season with a tight 16-13 win against the Cincinnati Bengals. He recorded 208 passing yards on 16 of 30 completions with no touchdown scored for the team.

In lieu of his absence, rookie gunslinger Justin Herbert abruptly started in the quarterback position against the Kansas City Chiefs. The former Oregon standout was able to put up a respectable performance in his professional debut. He racked up a total of 311 passing yards on a 22-of-33 clip along with a touchdown scored and an interception.

His valiant efforts eventually went down the drain as the Chargers found themselves on the losing end this time around. The reigning champion Chiefs went on to run away with a 23-20 overtime win to snag their second victory of the season. The Chargers dropped to an even record of 1-1 heading into their Week 3 matchup against the Carolina Panthers on September 27.

Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn has already assured Taylor of the starting job as long as he's healthy, otherwise, Herbert will start in his position.

With the veteran's status for Week 3 still up in the air, Lynn will have to play his cards well and make the necessary adjustments for his team to defend their home turf against the visiting Panthers.
