CeeDee Lamb has played just 28 games in a Dallas Cowboys uniform. It's all he needed to break a franchise record.
In Dallas' win over the Washington Football Team, Lamb set the record for the most receptions for a Cowboy in his first two seasons in the league, the team announced. He came into the game tied with legendary running back Herschel Walker and took the record from him in the victory.
A host of other legendary players — namely Michael Irvin, Drew Pearson, Jason Witten and Dez Bryant — couldn't reach the levels of immediate production Lamb did. The 22-year-old has ways to go before he can be reasonably called a superstar. But he is on a very promising trajectory.
Lamb was selected 17th overall by Dallas in the 2020 draft out of Oklahoma. He wasted no time producing at the NFL level, tallying 138 receptions, 1,825 yards and 11 touchdowns so far in his two-year career. With Dak Prescott and alongside Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup, Lamb plays a key role in one of the league's best passing attacks.
Lamb has upped his production in his second professional campaign. He is well on pace to surpass his rookie statistics, which were already impressive for a wide receiver regardless of age. As he gains more experience, there's no reason to suggest he can't beat among the very best pass catchers in the league one day.
Despite a few hiccups recently, Lamb and the Cowboys' offense are a force to be reckoned with. The youngster's explosiveness elusiveness is already allowing him to contribute to a great offense. With time, he can etch his name all over Dallas' record books and possibly help lead them to postseason success.
