Deron Williams and Frank Gore attended a media event which included an arguably cringeworthy set of poses to advertise their upcoming boxing match.

SHOWTIME Boxing tweeted the video of the two athletes, and it's kind of difficult to take seriously:

First the opponents engaged in an awkward 10-second staring contest. The staredown is common before press conferences, but this one was just uncomfortable. Then, the two posed straight-faced toward the camera, each with one fist up. This wouldn't have been that strange if it wasn't for Gore constantly looking at Williams as if he was making sure he was doing the right pose.

To make things seem even stranger, the video ends with an announcement of the fight, saying, “Two-time Olympic gold medalist Deron Williams against Frank Gore.” As if Gore didn't have an entire professional football career of his own as a five-time Pro Bowler.

As outlandish as this fight may be, it isn't the main event. Basketball star Deron Williams will take on Frank Gore as an undercard match. Their fight will come before the main card of Tommy Fury and Jake Paul on Dec. 18.

Comments and replies to the tweet are divisive, but it does seem like people are interested in seeing how the two match up in their professional boxing debut.
