Brian Flores shocked the football world when he filed a lawsuit against the NFL. Among his most unbelievable claims was that Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross offered to pay Flores for every loss during the 2019 season.

Flores' lawsuit states that Ross wanted the Dolphins to tank in order to land the top overall draft pick. He tried to incentivize Flores, who was in his first year as the team's head coach, with a $100,000 payment for each loss. Flores rejected the offer and the Dolphins ended up going 5-11 that season, landing them the fifth overall pick in the 2020 draft, which they used to draft Tua Tagovailoa.

Ross said in a press release that he will cooperate with the NFL's investigation but claimed that Flores' accusations were false and defamatory (via ESPN).

“With regards to the allegations being made by Brian Flores, I am a man of honor and integrity and cannot let them stand without responding,” he said in a statement provided to multiple media outlets. “I take great personal exception to these malicious attacks, and the truth must be known. His allegations are false, malicious and defamatory. We understand there are media reports stating that the NFL intends to investigate his claims, and we will cooperate fully. I welcome that investigation and I am eager to defend my personal integrity, and the integrity and values of the entire Miami Dolphins organization, from these baseless, unfair and disparaging claims.”

Flores led the Dolphins to two consecutive winning seasons, which they hadn't accomplished in nearly two decades, before being fired in January.
