Madden 19 plain and simply messed up with their catch rating of Nick Foles. Despite the Philadelphia Eagles QB catching a clutch pass in the Super Bowl, he still ended up having a lower rating than Tom Brady, who infamously botched his opportunity to come up with a huge catch in the big game.

But to Madden’s credit, they’re going to do something about it. After the Eagles’ official Twitter account protested on Foles’ behalf, Madden quickly approved the application and promised to raise the Super Bowl MVP’s catch rating.

Madden seems to be staying true to their word when it comes to the Madden Ratings Performance Plan, wherein players and others unhappy with their ratings can make their case to have them altered. Pittsburgh Steelers defensive lineman Cam Heyward recently found this out for himself when he got his Madden application approved.

But while Madden has said it will raise Foles’ 32 catch rating, it remains to be seen if it will be higher than Brady’s, which is at 39. That seems to be the more pressing problem than Foles merely having a low rating. Foles came up trumps in the biggest stage possible compared to Brady in terms of this skill and clearly deserves to get a leg up on the G.O.A.T.

Although, chances are Madden will do the right thing and put Foles over Brady this time around. With the attention this oversight has received, they probably realize people will be monitoring this change and won’t hesitate to give the game more grief if they mess it up for a second time.
