Since James Gunn was named one of DC Studios' new heads, there has been a near constant flow of alleged “leaks” all over social media about the rebooted shared cinematic universe set to begin on the big screen with Superman: Legacy. It appears these leaks are causing plenty of frustration for Gunn, who did not mince words about them during his latest fan Q&A on Threads, according to FandomWire.

James Gunn was asked about the latest set of DC Universe rumors, such as potential stars for Lanterns and if Amanda Waller is appearing in Superman: Legacy, when he seemingly went off on the so-called “leaks.”

“Guys. If I’ve said it once I’ve said it a thousand times,” Gunn said on Threads. “Everything out there is b*llshit unless it comes from me. People don’t even know the writer on the the show [Lanterns]. How do you think they’d know they age if the character [John Stewart]?”

Along with rumors about the series Lanterns and other projects Amanda Waller could appear in, Gunn was also asked about Batman: The Brave and the Bold's writing team, Superman: Legacy's trailer, and adaptations of Plastic Man and Huntress that were allegedly in early development. The last two were the only ones Gunn did not address during his latest Threads Q&A.

Gunn previously announced the DC Universe's first slate of projects, dubbed Chapter One: Gods and Monsters, in January 2023. This came nearly two months after Gunn was named the new co-head of DC Studios alongside longtime film producer Peter Safran, who had produced multiple successful horror and DC films for Warner Bros.

The new cinematic universe will being on the TV screen with 2024's Creature Commandos, an animated series that is slated to premiere on Max. Additional series to follow include Waller, Lanterns, Paradise Lost, Booster Gold, and season two of Peacemaker.

Superman: Legacy will get the universe started on the movie screen when it releases on July 11, 2025. The Authority, Batman: The Brave and The Bold, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, and Swamp Thing will follow soon after.
