Those who were worried about the new Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire getting bogged down by pesky things like dialogue or a script can rest assured after an announcement about the monster fight sequences from the director himself.

The film's helmer Adam Wingard gave an exclusive interview to IGN about the upcoming latest installment in the MonsterVerse (because the world certainly needed another highly interconnected cinematic universe, didn't it?).

In speaking about the film's bevy of monsters to service, Wingard promised, “So much of the film is entirely animated CG shots; so much of it is just pure imagination.”

He elaborated that, “We have some sequences going up to about eight minutes long, where it's just the monsters doing their thing, and so the movie really allows the monsters to tell their own narrative in a visual, nonverbal way.”

Neat! Unless you happen to like when characters utter words in a motion picture. For the rest of the viewing audience, sounds like the only key plot points you'll need to keep in mind going in are the big takeaways from 2021's Godzilla vs. Kong.

Namely, in that one, Godzilla started out versus King Kong, but then they teamed up to defeat Mechagodzilla. Now, the title is Godzilla x Kong because presumably they're multiplying their powers by being on the same side (ooh, possible tag line for the movie poster: Good times!). Apparently audiences don't have the same aversion to math as they do to words. Maybe if we're lucky the inevitable next sequel will be called Godzilla-to-the-power-of-Kong so they can multiply their powers exponentially!

In any case, this time around Godzilla and Kong are teaming up to destroy a new villain set on world domination. Along the way they will undoubtedly get into some hilarious hijinks, show their vulnerable side and really grow as monsters. Or not. Either way it's bound to make a lot of money. But hey, on the bright side, with no need for a script, at least the production will be saving some trees!
