We may soon see Wanda Maximoff grace our screens again as new rumors claim that Scarlet Witch could be resurrected, CBR reported citing Marvel insider Daniel Richtman.

The Scarlet Witch Returns?

Scarlet Witch Updates's X (formerly Twitter) post said that WandaVision creator and showrunner Jac Schaeffer has been tapped to write and direct the movie. The rumor has been making its round as other media outlets have also reported on it.

However, neither Marvel nor Disney have commented on the rumor.

Also, an excerpt from the book The Marvel Cinematic Universe: An Official Timeline, released last month, stated that Scarlet Witch died in the 2022 movie Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

The excerpt stated, “[Wanda] destroys Wundagore – and collapses it upon herself – ending two great threats to all of the Multiverse.”

Despite that, Marvel Studios president and CCO Kevin Feige dropped hints in 2022 that Wanda is actually still alive.

“I don't know that we saw her under rubble? I saw a tower coming down and a little red flash. I don't know what that means,” he said.

The Scarlet Witch herself, Elizabeth Olsen, talked about Wanda trying on comedy and said, “We can do anything with [Scarlet Witch] now! I feel like we've done so much. Now, we can really have fun — I feel like there's a lot more humor to be had with her. She's often the emotion of a story, and I'm curious to see what we can explore. And hopefully [we can] give her some redemption.”

However, she said that she didn't miss being Wanda or the Scarlet Witch. Olsen first played the Scarlet Witch in 2014's Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

“I think it's been almost 10 years of playing her, and I've loved it,” she stated.

Olsen added, “I think the reason why I am not like calling Kevin Feige every day with ideas is because I'm really proud of what we were able to do. I think WandaVision was really surprising and a really surprising opportunity and so if someone were to tell me that I'm fired from Marvel movies, I will feel proud of what we made.”
