After rumors that filming of Euphoria Season 3 was being delayed indefinitely, Sydney Sweeney, Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, and Hunter Schafer seem bound to return to the HBO series soon.
In a conversation with Variety, Max executives JB Perrette and Casey Bloys discussed their upcoming HBO slate. The latter gave a promising update on the third season of their teen drama. Levinson is seemingly stuck trying to get his characters out of high school.
“Sam [Levinson] is working on it,” Bloys said of Euphoria Season 3. “There's been a lot of back and forth… One of the issues I think that Sam is thinking about is that he doesn't want to have it in high school anymore.
“That's where it was set and what made sense then. So when you take it out of that, there's a lot of back and forth about where to set it and how far in the future to set it and all that stuff. But I think he's got a take that he's excited about, and he's busy writing,” Bloys continued.
When asked if the core cast of Sweeney, Zendaya, Elordi, and Schafer were set to return, Bloys had a simple response: “It's the same core cast,” he revealed.
Is Euphoria Season 3 happening?
It does sound like Euphoria Season 3 is happening with its cast returning. This is a big development after several rumors surfaced.
There were previous rumors that an unnamed cast member didn't think it was going to happen at all. Another rumor was that Levinson wanted Rue (Zendaya) to become a pregnancy surrogate. Levinson also reportedly considered a five-year time jump.
However, it now sounds like Levinson has an idea for the creative vision of the third season. With the series leaving high school, it will be interesting to see what happens with the various characters.
Euphoria is an HBO series created by Sam Levinson. The series follows Rue Bennett, a drug-addicted teenager attempting to get sober. It premiered in 2019 and there have been two seasons produced to date.
A second season of the series premiered on January 9, 2022. In between the first and second seasons, HBO produced two holiday specials in 2020.

Euphoria has a stacked cast of young stars and helped propel their careers. Zendaya began her career starring in Disney Channel shows and Spider-Man: Homecoming. She is now one of the biggest stars in Hollywood.
Sydney Sweeney has recently become big outside of Euphoria. She starred in the first season of The White Lotus and has recently starred in Reality, Anyone but You, Madame Web, and Immaculate.
Other notable stars include Jacob Elordi and Hunter Schafer. The former gained notoriety for his role in the Kissing Booth series for Netflix. He has since starred as Elvis Presley in Priscilla and in Emerald Fennell's Saltburn. The latter recently starred in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes and in Kinds of Kindness, which recently premiered at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival.
Euphoria's ensemble also features Maude Apatow, Angus Cloud, Eric Dane, Alexa Demie, Barbie Ferreira, Nika King, Storm Reid, and Algee Smith.
