The New York Giants have a new weapon in rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers out of LSU, and when asked who he is looking to face in the NFL, he named Trevon Diggs of the Dallas Cowboys, which started quite the exchange on X, formerly known as Twitter. Diggs retweeted a video made by a Cowboys fan hyping up the matchup.

Trevon Diggs then posted something of his own saying, “Giants been getting belt for some years now.”

This sparked Malik Nabers to chime in with a screenshot of some song lyrics from “Boot Up” by NBA YoungBoy.

“P**** want to Insta' beef, he Tweetin' and I see all of that,” are the lyrics Nabers posted on X.

Clearly, Nabers is taking note of Diggs' words and will have them in mind when the Giants face the Cowboys this season. Diggs responded with one more post, and it was a simple one with an emoji.

The first time Nabers and Diggs will match up is in a Thursday Night Football game in Week 4 on Sept. 26, when the Cowboys will visit the Giants at MetLife Stadium. That could be a big early season contest in the NFC East. The Giants do not have high expectations, but if they get off to a decent start, this could be a statement game. The Cowboys will try to continue their dominance in this rivalry.

The second matchup between these two teams will take place on another Thursday, as the Giants will go to Dallas in Week 13 for a Thanksgiving matchup on Nov. 28. Only time will tell where both teams stand in the playoff picture at that point in the season.

Diggs is right that the Giants have been on the losing end of the rivalry with the Cowboys for a number of years. The all-time record is 75-47-2 in favor of the Cowboys, and the Giants are just 3-13 against Dallas since 2018 when Dak Prescott took over as the starting quarterback for the franchise.

The Cowboys were dominant in both games in 2023 against the Giants. In week 1, Dallas came away with a 40-0 win on the road at MetLife Stadium, which was a rude awakening for a Giants team that had playoff hopes entering the season. Later in the year, the Cowboys beat New York 49-17.

Obviously, the Giants are hoping for a better showing in both games this upcoming season, and Nabers is hoping to provide a spark for an offense that has been towards the bottom of the league for the most part in recent years. It will certainly be interesting to see how he fares against Diggs, who has become one of Dallas' more important players on defense, but is coming off of a torn ACL from 2023.
