With Saquon Barkley and Devonta Freeman no longer in the mix in East Rutherford, the New York Giants have instead been forced to turn to running backs Wayne Gallman and Dion Lewis against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In the surprise of the evening possibly occurring in the first quarter, Lewis tallied a receiving touchdown to put the Giants up 7-3 early on against the Buccaneers.
Lewis and Giants quarterback Daniel Jones connected for quite the impressive pitch and catch as New York was able to capitalize on a fumble from Buccaneers running back Ronald Jones II.
While Lewis previously served as a reliable third down and receiving back for both the New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans, he then latched on with the Giants this past offseason. Obviously on a much worse team nowadays, it hasn't been all that easy for Lewis and company in 2020-21. Even so, the veteran running back put his full skill set on display early on against the Buccaneers under the bright lights of Monday Night Football.
