The 2024 Tennessee Titans roster is a roster in flux. There are still several stars still leftover from the Mike Vrabel Era, despite Ryan Tannehill and Derrick Henry now being gone, and there is also a lot of young talent for new coach Brian Callahan to mold, starting with second-year quarterback Will Levis. There are also some interesting players a little further down the depth chart, including wide receiver Kyle Philips and running back Hassan Haskins.

Kyle Philips will become a slot weapon for somebody

The 2024 Titans’ starting wide receivers are DeAndre Hopkins, Calvin Ridley, and Tyler Boyd. After that, though, the remaining spots are up for grabs. Treylon Burks, Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, rookie Jha'Quan Jackson, Colton Dowell, and Kyle Philips, among others, are vying for the three other sports on the roster.

Last season, defensive-minded head coach Mike Vrabel preferred Dowell, an excellent special teams player, over Philips. However, when Philips did get chances, he performed well, catching 15 balls for 181 yards in just nine appearances.

The 2022 fifth-round pick out of UCLA is a prototypical slot receiver, and given more time with Will Levis, he could become an incredibly reliable weapon.

That said, there is just as much of a chance that Philips doesn’t make the team as there is that he ultimately replaces Boyd as the starter in the slot. No matter what happens, though, look for Philips to become a valuable contributor in this league, whether it is on the 2024 Titans roster or not.

Big Hassan Haskins finally gets his career on track

For the last six seasons, the entire Titans identity was built around a huge, bruising running back in Derrick Henry. The four-time carries and two-time rushing leader is now a Baltimore Raven, though, and Tennessee will officially move to running back by committee.

Offseason free agent signing and former Dallas Cowboys RB Tony Pollard will split time with last season’s lightning to Hery’s thunder, Tyjae Spears. After that, it is a four-way race for the RB3 spot between Hassan Haskins, Julius Chestnut, and undrafted free-agent rookies Dillon Johnson and Jabari Small.

Of these backs, Haskins is the most Henry-like. The former Michigan Wolverine stands 6-foot-2 and weighs in at 228 pounds. It’s not quite the 6-foot-3, 247 pounds Henry brought to the backfield, but it is at least in the same mold.

Haskins didn’t get much run behind Herny as a rookie in 2022, carrying the ball 25 times for 95 yards. Then, ahead of Year 2, the team put him on the injured reserve with an undisclosed injury and then on the Commissioner’s exempt list after a domestic dispute arrest.

The chargers were ultimately dismissed by a judge, but Haskins never returned to the field in 2023.

With a clean bill of health and his legal problems behind him, Haskins can now become the heir apparent to Henry the Tiatns thought he might be.

Pollard and Spears are somewhat similar scat backs, so when the team needs to pound the rock with the lead, on the goal line, or on short-yardge-to-go satiations, Haskins could be the guy the team turns to.
