More details about House of the Dragon Season 2 are coming, including its runtime for the premiere episode.
DiscussingFilm stated that the first episode of the HBO Max series will be 64 minutes long. That sounds like an good runtime to set up the upcoming anticipated season's action, drama, and battles. After all, it's been just a little under a year and a half since the finale of Season 1, so fans can't wait to watch as much as possible.

What to expect in House of the Dragons Season 2
Get ready, because there's a lot on the way.
For one, showrunner Ryan Condal said a year ago in April that some new characters are going to be revealed. “House of the Dragon has returned,” he confirmed. “We are thrilled to be shooting again with members of our original family as well as new talents on both sides of the camera. All your favorite characters will soon be conspiring at the council tables, marching with their armies and riding their dragons into battle. We can't wait to share what we have in store.”
Many specific details regarding the plot are still under wraps on what we can expect. However, it is all adapted from George R.R. Martin's Fire & Blood novel — so if you read what the author has written, you'll know what's coming. That said, anytime something is adapted, there could be some changes here and there.
We know that Season 2 will introduce more dragons to the series, which the first season lacked quite a bit. Esquire reported that Condal said, “You're going to meet five new dragons.” This will be awesome if you're a fan of the fire-breathing beasts (like me). After all, the series' title is House of the Dragon, so the more, the merrier.
Also, the plot will continue from the last time we watched.
Rhaenyra (Milly Alcock and Emma D'Arcy) and her uncle Daemon (Matt Smith) married in the first season. Writer Sarah Hess told THR, “He's become Internet Boyfriend in a way that baffles me. Not that Matt [Smith] isn't incredibly charismatic and wonderful, and he's incredible in the role. But Daemon himself is…I don't want him to be my boyfriend! I'm a little baffled how they're all, ‘Oh, daddy!' And I'm just like: ‘Really?'” She added, “And right now, we're writing Season 2 and figuring out, what is the nature of his relationship with Rhaenyra? There are many interpretations [in the George R.R. Martin book] to that.”
In a Targaryen civil war, the couple will face off against Aegon II, Rhaenyra's half-brother.
How many episodes in the new season?
Season 2 will likely have only eight episodes, two fewer than the first season. But that will lead to a Season 3. “I am thrilled that we still have 10 hours every season to tell our tell,” Martin blogged about last October. “I hope that will continue to be true. It's going to take four full seasons of 10 episodes each to do justice to the Dance of the Dragons, from start to finish.”
Get ready, as House of the Dragon Season 2 comes out on Sunday, June 16, on HBO and Max.
