The Jacksonville Jaguars had no problem assigning the franchise tag to defensive end Yannick Ngakoue in spite of the fact the 25-year-old saying he would not play with the team and demanding a trade.

Jacksonville is indeed looking into a number of trade options, but they are setting a very high bargaining price for opposing teams hoping to acquire Ngakoue's services.

The reason there has been such little movement in terms of a trade stems from the Jaguars' demands for a first-round pick, and then some (via Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk):

“The reason? It’s going to be expensive in compensation both in a new deal for the pass rusher and in draft choice(s) in return for Ngakoue.

Jordan Raanan of ESPN reports that the Jaguars are beginning discussions for Ngakoue at a first-round pick and more.

The Jaguars’ patience in waiting for the right deal for Jalen Ramsey paid off, with the Rams giving up two first-round picks and a fourth-round choice.”

Indeed, the Jaguars still have some time to make a deal happen. Perhaps Ngakoue's trade value will rise once Jadeveon Clowney and Everson Griffen both sign somewhere.

A number of teams are still in need of edge rushers, and Ngakoue fits the mold of a guy who can win in the trenches and get to the quarterback.

Ngakoue had eight sacks and four forced fumbles in 15 games this past season, and he also had an interception return for a touchdown.

Considering Ngakoue has at least eight sacks in each of his first four seasons as a pro, it only makes sense the Jaguars would look to accrue the most value possible from any potential trade.
