For Portland Trail Blazers star guard Damian Lillard, LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers should be the 2019-20 Most Valuable Player because of his sheer dominance.

Lillard appeared in the Dan Patrick Show where he shared his thoughts on the MVP race. Analysts are divided between Giannis Antetokounmpo and James. While Lillard acknowledges the greatness of both players, in his opinion, James should be crowned MVP.

“I don't think you can go wrong with LeBron or Giannis. But in my opinion, it's LeBron.”

“Just because they're the number one seed in the Western Conference. And I feel like he's had a dominant season… In year 17? Leading the league in assists.”

Lillard also pointed out how James transformed the Lakers into a non-playoff team to number one in the West. The Lakers clinched the playoffs before the season was suspended in March. This will be their first playoff appearance since the 2012-13 season.

As Lillard noted, LeBron James leads the league in assists with 10.6 per game. This is James' career-high and first-time leading the NBA in his illustrious 17-year career.

James already has four MVP awards in his trophy case. Analysts have continually pointed out that when you have James on your team, it's bound to be a title contender. The 35-year-old proved this during his stint with the Miami Heat, his return in Cleveland, and now with the Purple and Gold.

Whether or not James bags his fifth MVP is a matter of wait-and-see. But basketball fans know that James' impact on the floor cannot be simply encapsulated into a piece of hardware.
