The Detroit Lions defeated the Los Angeles Rams 24-23 in their Wild Card clash on Sunday. Lions tight end Sam LaPorta's injury status was a major topic of discussion before the game, but he was ultimately made available for the contest.

LaPorta is still dealing with a knee injury despite playing against the Rams. However, he was a full participant in Wednesday's practice, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Barring any setbacks, it appears likely that LaPorta will be ready for Sunday's playoff clash against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The 23-year-old rookie is fresh off a tremendous season and will play a pivotal role in Detroit's playoff journey moving forward.

Lions: Sam LaPorta gets injury update from Dan Campbell

Lions head coach Dan Campbell was impressed by LaPorta's effort against the Rams, via the Lions account on X (formerly Twitter).

“I was impressed. He (LaPorta) helped us. He was not 100 percent, but he helped us win that game,” Campbell said Wednesday. “He did exactly what we needed him to do for that game.”

LaPorta ultimately recorded three receptions for 14 yards. He added an important touchdown as well.

Campbell also addressed LaPorta's injury status.

“He's coming along,” Campbell continued. “He's gotten better, he feels better than he did this time last week. That's encouraging. I go back to this… For a young player that doesn't know what this is and I'm not 100 percent, to be able to… He knew he could get this done. And he can help us. It goes a long way. That's not an easy thing for a young player.”

The Lions are a fascinating team to follow. They have endured struggles in previous seasons but are now a true contender in the NFC. They will enter Sunday's game as favorites, but the Buccaneers have upset potential.

Still, Detroit should head into the contest with plenty of confidence.

We will continue to monitor and provide updates on Sam LaPorta's injury status as they are made available.
