Through all the celebrations and smiles in the Detroit Lions locker room Thursday night, there was a small glimmer of concern regarding the team's starting left tackle.

Taylor Decker left the Lions locker room in a walking boot following the victory, according to Kyle Meinke. The severity of the potential injury is not yet known.

Decker is the longest-tenured Lions player, having been with the team since they selected him in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He's dealt with injuries multiple times in his career, missing eight games in 2017 and another eight in 2021.

The Lions' offensive line did a great job protecting quarterback Jared Goff against the Kansas City Chiefs. It held the Chiefs to one sack the whole game and helped propel Detroit to 118 rushing yards.

The Lions came out with a statement win over the Chiefs on Thursday, upsetting the defending Super Bowl champions in Kansas City. Detroit is a popular pick to make the playoffs this season and it showed why in the season opener.

Luckily for Taylor Decker and the Lions, they have some extra rest before a Week 2 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks. If Decker is unable to go, Detroit has some options to fill the void at the most important position along the offensive line.

The Lions could opt to move Pro Bowl tackle Penei Sewell over from the right side, but the third-year lineman struggled on the left as a rookie in 2021. Matt Nelson is listed as Decker's backup on Detroit's depth chart. He made 11 starts in 2021 but has been on the field for just 70 offensive snaps since the start of last season.
