Lost Ark has taken the MMORPG world by storm, and here's everything you need to know about the Lost Ark May Update: Destined for Destruction.

Amazon Game Studios are reaping in the rewards from their gamble in taking up the publishing of Lost Ark – a recently-released MMORPG to the West, but has been a popular game in the East for a good part of the past three years. With the upcoming May Update, more features that have been enjoyed by South Korean fans for a long time now will finally arrive on the Global version of the game. Without further ado, let's talk about the game's new features that players can expect from the Lost Ark May Update.

Lost Ark Destined For Destruction Release Date: May 2022

The Lost Ark May Update release date has not yet been revealed in the game's official update article, but the update will surely come this month. We'll update this space when we get more information from Smilegate.

Legion Raid – Valtan

The first Legion Raid will finally arrive in the West. Legion Raids are difficult team-based activities that require tight teamwork and mastery of skills and the opponent. Players will be tested on their team's coordination and their mastery of execution as they try to counter the Legion Commander's unique characteristics, abilities, and mechanics. Valtan is an eight-player Legion Raid, and has two gates – checkpoints that allow players to continue from where they left off in case they fail or leave early. Each new Legion Raid will introduce a new mechanic, and Valtan is no different. Being the first Legion Raid in the Global version of the game, it's going to introduce a lot of new mechanics. Players are advised to bring an Item Level 1415 character before attempting the Normal Difficulty, and Item level 1445 for Hard Difficulty.

With the new challenge that the Legion Raid brings, rewards for the activity will give players gear from a new rarity – “Relic.” Relic gear can be crafted from materials in the raid. These gear provide more impactful armor and weapon bonuses, alongside bigger stat bonuses and more engraving nodes on accessories.

Deskaluda Guardian Raid

Guardians are powerful entities that players can challenge. In the Lost Ark May Update, a brand-new Guardian Raid becomes available – Deskaluda. Just like in the Valtan Legion Raid, players are advised to bring an Item Level 1415 character before challenging Deskaluda. Unlike Legion Raids, players can actually take on Guardian Raids alone. Deskaluda will also give players “Relic” rarity accessories.

Destroyer Advanced Class

Warriors have been a popular class in Lost Ark, and players who have been toiling the warrior's way will soon find a new path of progression in the Lost Ark May Update. Welcome the hammer-wielding Destroyer. Armed with a variety of skills centered around charging in the heat of battle, Destroyers' attacks are catastrophic and will crush anything that stand in their way. Destroyers can bend gravity to their will – slowing, launching, pushing, and pulling enemies – destroying enemies with finality. Destroyers deal massive stagger damage, making them useful members of any party. Destroyer is the fourth Advanced Class for Warrior.

New Guardian Raids Challenges

Challenge Guaridan Raids will add a new weekly activity where players can earn rewards based on the difficulty of the challenge they conquer. Every Guardian has their own required item level to enter, and each week one Guardian will rotate out, replaced by another Guardian. Challenge Guardian Raids are different from regular Guardian Raids as these will apply “Scale of Balance” so that your character's item level will be adjusted appropriately to the enemy – making the challenge less reliant on equipment and more on skill. Watch out, though, as players will not be allowed to use the Battle Workshop in the raid region.

New Quests & Open World Activities

South Vern Activities – Chaos Line Hard Mode, Thunderwings Field Boss, the South Vern Chaos Gate, South Vern Ghost Ship, and South Vern Chaos Dungeons will all be arriving in Arkesia.

The Lost Ark May Update introduces Wild Wings Island – Arkesia, a vast land, filled with a myriad of menacing threats. Here, players get to fight a comically giant Crispy Golden Chickings. Players turn into a chicken or beer to battle the Chicking boss. Doing so will reward players with event coins, which they can exchange for rewards.

New Guild Activities

Have more reason to get together with your guildmates as new PvE and PvP Guild Activities arrive in the May Update:

  • Island Siege – A PvP guild activity that allows you to battle other guilds in PvP combat. Your ranking is determined by how many points you earn from capturing objectives and defeating enemy players. Earn rewards and perks like gems, accessories, ability stones, and more.

  • Raid Match – Enter a base with your guild and challenge the powerful Sylmael Devourer. Once summoned, you’ll have limited time to cooperate with your guild and quickly destroy the Sylmael Devourer. The faster you kill, the more you move up in the guild rankings.

Neria's Wardrobe

And to take some time off the gloomy fantasy setting of Lost Ark and give in to the Summer vibe, the May Update will bring more modern skins to the game. Smilegate will be adding a month of Neria's Wardrobe alongside the normal store updates this month. Here's your opportunity to dress up fashionably in-game!

There are also some quality-of-life updates and balance tuning that we can expect to arrive alongside the new patch when it finally arrives.
