While 2024 is a very light year for Marvel Studios releases, things are set to pick back in 2025 with films including Thunderbolts and Captain America: Brave New World slated to hit theaters. Another of those planned releases for 2025 will be Fantastic Four, and according to one of its stars, the film is gearing up to get in front of cameras very soon.

Stranger Things veteran Joseph Quinn is set to portray Johnny Storm, aka The Human Torch, as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's version of Marvel's first family. While he has been busy promoting his next film, A Quiet Place: Day One, he revealed to GQ that “the wheels are getting moving” on MCU's Fantastic Four with it set to kick off production in July to meet its planned July 2025 release.

He added that outside of his time working with Pedro Pascal on Gladiator 2, he hasn't had much interaction with his fellow Fantastic Four co-stars Vanessa Kirby and Ebon Moss-Bachrach.

“I’ve met Ebon very briefly, Vanessa I have lots of mutual friends with,” Quinn told the magazine. He added that he is excited to work with John Malkovich on the film, referring to the stage and screen veteran as one of his personal “all-timers.”

The Rest of the Family

Alongside Quinn, Pedro Pascal is set to star as Mr. Fantastic himself, Reed Richards, for the team's official MCU debut. His casting seemingly caught fans by surprise as many expected John Krasinski to reprise the role after appearing in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness as an alternate version of Mr. Fantastic.

Vanessa Kirby will portray Sue Storm, aka the Invisible Woman, who was previously played by Jessica Alba in the 20th Century Fox Tim Story-directed Fantastic Four films. Rounding out the team is Ebon Moss-Bachrach, who is trading in his Chicago sandwich shop in The Bear for orange rocks as The Thing in the MCU.

Galactic Threats

Joining the team is Ralph Ineson as the cosmis-eating entity known as Galactus, with Julia Garner set to be the Shalla-Bal-version of Galactus' herald, the Silver Surfer, for the film. John Malkovich, Paul Walter Hauser, and Natasha Lyonne are confirmed for the film, as well, though their roles have not been announced.

While Marvel Studios hasn't shared any story details for the film, fans have speculated it could be following a version of the Fantastic Four from a different universe based on the retro sci-fi concept from the announcement poster. Fans have also suggested, if this is the route Marvel Studios is going, this version of the team would join the main MCU timeline in the aftermath of Avengers: Secret Wars, though it will be some time before audiences know for sure.

Fantastic Four is scheduled to release in theaters on July 25, 2025.
