Mike Tyson was scheduled to take on Jake Paul in a boxing bout for the ages in late July. However, the two stars' fight has been postponed after information regarding Tyson's health status emerged.

The July 20th date for the Tyson-Paul fight has been delayed until further notice, Most Valuable Promotions announced, per Ari Helwani. The promotion company released an elaborate statement explaining the medically-based postponement.

“During a follow-up consultation on Thursday with medical professionals on his recent ulcer flare-up, the recommendation is for Mike Tyson to do minimal to light training over the next few weeks and then return to full training with no limitations,” MVP Promotions stated.

“Both Jake and Mike are in agreement that it is only fair to ensure that both athletes have equal training time to prepare for this important match and are able to compete at the highest level. The health and well-being of athletes is our top priority, and we fully support Mike in taking the necessary time to allow him to perform at the level he expects of himself.”

Despite the delay, Tyson is expected to make a full recovery and the fight is still expected to happen.

“Mike is expected to return to his full training schedule in the coming weeks and is eager to get back in the ring. MVP anticipates rescheduling the match to later this year at AT&T Stadium, and we look forward to an exciting and well-prepared contest between these two exceptional athletes. The new date of the fight will be announced by next Friday June 7th.”

Hopefully, Tyson will make a safe and efficient recovery. The former boxing star wants to be as prepared as possible to take on his new rival in what should be a thrilling match.

The Tyson-Paul fight will be one of the most exciting if not the most exciting bouts of 2024. Even other boxing stars are getting in on the action. British boxing legend Tyson Fury looks forward to the event. He bashed criticism the stars have received for organizing the fight.

“Only jealous fighters, only fighters that are not getting paid, and not getting laid, they’re the fighters who are jealous. Negative people who are not making any money, and are not set to gain anything from this fight between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson. I think it’s fantastic. I think this creates a lot of money,” Fury said via The MMA Hour With Ariel Helwani.

Fury further noted that the marquee event will be economically great for Arlington, Texas. The ticket, food, and drink sales as well as big influencer dollars being spent in the area should provide a big boost. The British boxing legend also recognized the great benefit the fight will have to Mike Tyson and Jake Paul's camps.

“There’s a lot of mouths being fed, a lot of people’s rents are being paid. So I don’t know what’s to be negative about it,” Fury added.

The Tyson-Paul fight should be a great all-around positive experience. Fans might be bummed for its postponement, but the move ensures both athletes will be ready to give their all.
