MLB's “Field of Dreams Game” between the New York Yankees and the Chicago White Sox had everything that a baseball fan could dream of.

From the game being played at the location where the iconic 1989 “Field of Dreams” movie was filmed to the array of home runs, it was a matchup even those who do not follow baseball had to tune in for.

White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson provided for a moment in the game that simply seemed too good to be true, as he slugged a two-run home run for the dramatic walk-off winner.

As noted by FOX Sports PR on Twitter, the “Field of Dreams Game” was the most-watched regular season game in 16 years, as it garnered 5.9 million viewers across FOX and FOX Deportes. And, as expected, the top markets for this game were Chicago (11.2/25) and New York (6.6/14).

This is quite noteworthy considering the array of must-watch national TV games that have been aired on FOX and ESPN over the past decade-plus, which include a multitude of high-rating heated duels between the Yankees and the Boston Red Sox.

FOX Sports EVP Michael Mulvihill further notes that the overnight rating for this dramatic clash between the Yankees and White Sox was +135 percent better than for a typical FOX MLB overnight.

In essence, this game was a major success for MLB. Many baseball fans had their feeling of nostalgia watching this game be played amongst the cornfields in Iowa, and as mentioned, the ending was something that not even a film director could have bettered.

MLB commissioner Rob Manfred has already confirmed that the “Field of Dreams Game” will indeed be back for next season, although it is currently not known on the two teams that will be involved.

Baseball fans will surely be calling for Manfred to make this an annual game.
