The Miami Marlins have been struggling since returning from the All-Star break, and they have to find a way to score more runs if they are going to remain in contention for a playoff spot. As a result, they are looking at acquiring players who can hit the ball and put runs on the board. One of those players is Washington Nationals 3rd baseman Jeimer Candelario.
According to baseball insider Bob Nightengale. the Marlins believe the switch-hitting Candelario would be an excellent fit for the Marlins lineup. Candelario has shown significant improvement this season for the Nationals. He is slashing .257/.334/.478 and he has belted an eye-opening 15 home runs with 47 runs batted in.
The 29-year-old Candelario has never hit more than 19 home runs in any of his previous seasons, and he is a threat surpass that mark with ease.

Luis Arraez, the leading hitter in the Major Leagues with a .375 average, drove in the winning run in the bottom of the 10th. Arraez had 3 hits in 4 at bats, but he is a long way from the .400 mark that he was threatening earlier in the year.
If the Marlins were to acquire Jeimer Candelario, it appears that he would replace veteran Jean Segura, who has struggled throughout the year. Segura, a former All-Star, is hitting just .223 this season with 2 home runs and 19 RBI.
The Marlins had the second-best record in the National League at the All-Star break, but they are now on the outside looking in the National League Wild Card race.
