The Golden State Warriors will take on the Minnesota Timberwolves in a Western Conference battle on Tuesday night. It's time to continue our NBA odds series and make a Warriors-Timberwolves prediction and pick.

This game will likely be the most exciting matchup of the night. The Warriors have been one of the most dominant teams in the NBA behind point guard Stephen Curry, earning themselves a 43-18 record on the year. That mark is good for the second seed in the Western Conference. Meanwhile, the Timberwolves have been clawing their way up the standings in the West. They're currently the seventh seed with a 33-29 record. Minnesota's offense has been one of the most electric in the league, so should provide plenty of entertainment in this potential playoff preview.

Why The Warriors Could Cover The Spread

The Warriors should be able to score pretty much at will in this game. They have some of the best offensive numbers in the league, as they rank inside the top-five in effective field goal percentage, shooting efficiency and shooting percentage. The Timberwolves have been completely incapable of stringing together stops against anyone, so Golden State will likely have a field day against them. The Timberwolves give up 112 points per game while allowing their opponents to shoot 35% from three-point range and 53% from inside the arc.

Expect an explosion from the Warriors.

Golden State's defense has the tools to slow down the Wolves' high-octane attack. The Warriors rank inside the top-five in nearly every single important defensive stat, including points per game allowed and shooting percentage allowed. Head coach Steve Kerr's unit has also been effective against the fast break, a huge factor in this matchup. Things won't be easy for the Timberwolves here.

Why The Timberwolves Could Cover The Spread

Despite recently coming off the All-Star Break, the Warriors will be missing some key players in this game.

Shooting guard Klay Thompson has been ruled out because of an illness, while defensive linchpins Draymond Green and Andre Iguodala are still dealing with long-term injuries. Thompson is obviously a key player for the Warriors, and his absence will force Otto Porter Jr. into the starting lineup. With Green and Iguodala's absence, the Warriors will be extremely short-handed across the board, likely affording more minutes to rookie Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody.

Backups will have to play huge minutes across multiple positions for Golden State. That doesn't bode well in a matchup with a fast-paced team like Minnesota.

While both of these teams are great against the spread, the Timberwolves have a clear advantage here. The Warriors are only 13-13-2 ATS when they play on the road, with a 7-7-2 record as road favorites. Minnesota is 15-14-1 ATS on their home court, with an 18-12 record overall at Target Center. These teams have played three times already, with Minnesota winning the only meeting that took place on its home floor.

Final Warriors-Timberwolves Prediction & Pick

This game is essentially a tossup, making the Timberwolves the obvious pick. They're not only at home, but are underdogs against an injured Warriors team that hasn't been particularly good at covering on the road.
