The Charlotte Hornets went from losing four straight on the road to now rattling off three straight wins. This time, they were able to take down arguably the best team in the league, the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors only had one loss coming into Spectrum Center.

The Hornets stuck to their game plan, slowed down Stephen Curry, and ground out the rest of the game to get the job done. It is a signature win already for this young Hornets squad.

Seems like James Borrego agrees.

“We played well and the goal is to get better every game. We battled for 48 minutes and that is the key, to play hard for 48 minutes and for us going forward, we are trying to be more efficient in our execution and I thought tonight was huge for us and I thought we took a step forward in that regard. We just have to get better, but I am really proud of that group. They deserve this win and they gutted it out even with two rotation guys out of this game, we still found a way to close out this game.”

He also highlighted that they keyed in on Steph and made the night as tough on him as possible. Curry finished with 24 points and 10 assists, but shot 31 percent from the field. It's not every night teams can hold Curry to ugly shooting nights and make him give up the ball or take tough shots.

The game started out in style with LaMelo Ball leading the charge. He led the charge with four quick triples in the first quarter. He finished the game with 21 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and three steals. After an off shooting night against the New York Knicks, Ball made sure he got going early, but emphasized he can do more than just score the ball.

“Games not just scoring. You can do other things to impact the game with passing, rebounding or making an extra pass.”

Despite the heroics of Ball, Terry Rozier led the charge late in the game to will the Hornets to victory. Rozier struggled to find his touch in the first half, but ended up icing the game. Not with a crazy contested jump shot, or a tough finish around the rim. It was with a jump ball.

The Hornets were up by two before this possession and Rozier was trapped a half court. Draymond Green forced a jump ball and probably thought he had it in the bag. Most would think so. Green has about five inches on Rozier, but it didn't matter. Rozier managed to get the ball back and finish the game at the free throw line.

When Rozier was asked about being able to close this team out.

“That speaks for itself – we’re playing the number one team in the league – come out to get the win. And where we’re headed, we’re trying to go places, get our organization like theirs. Great step (tonight) to what we want to do.”

This win is a step in the right direction. The Hornets improved to 8-7 with this win are 2-0 on this home stand. Next up is the Washington Wizards, who are sitting at the top of the Eastern Conference.
