NBA experts consider Doncic to be a top Rookie of the Year candidate for the 2018-2019 season. It only took Doncic five years to become the youngest EuroLeague MVP after making his professional debut at 14. Standing at 6-foot-7, the Slovenian product has the potential to take the NBA by storm with his size and versatility at the point guard position. Working with an elite training staff like Curry's will help Doncic develop his skill set and adjust to the speed of the NBA game.
Article Continues BelowDoncic averaged 14.5 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists last season, but needs to work on his outside shooting stroke. His 31 percent mark from behind the arc will have to improve if he wants to assert himself as a threat from range at the next level.
The Dallas Mavericks will utilize Doncic and second-year guard Dennis Smith Jr. to guide the future of their franchise. Adding DeAndre Jordan to the roster will add some much-needed veteran leadership and post presence to assist the team's young backcourt.
Last year, the Mavericks posted a 24-58 record in an uncharacteristic regular-season performance plagued by injury. They will look to improve this year to assert themselves as a playoff contender.
Nevertheless, both Doncic and Smith are focusing on growth this offseason to provide results that will help the Mavericks back to playoff success once again.
