With the Golden State Warriors topping the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 5 of the NBA Finals to win the NBA title, the new champions have finally let their guard down providing an honest assessment of this past season.

In light of that, Warriors All-Star forward Draymond Green opined that he believes his teammate Stephen Curry took a step back to start the season.

Much of this perceived step back from Curry lies with the adjustment period of playing alongside Kevin Durant. He sacrificed his role as the top scorer on the team to help ease the transition process for his new teammate. This, in turn, led to him struggling at times to find fluidity in his offensive production.

That said, he picked up midway through the season, especially when Durant was sidelined with a knee injury helping the Warriors hit their stride heading into the playoffs averaging 26.6 points with 7.2 assists following the All-Star Break. He was a huge source of reliability in the postseason averaging 28.1 points with 6.7 assists, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.0 steals per game.

Curry was also a major factor in the NBA Finals averaging 26.8 points, 9.4 assists, and 8.0 rebounds per game. He recorded a double-double in each contest while also notching his first ever triple-double in the playoffs. Although Durant was the driving force, Curry's production was just as important in the process.

Now that they have a full season together under their belt, this may mark the beginning of something quite special.
