There have been plenty of rumors surfacing involving Kevin Durant and the Knicks. The 30-year-old All-Star could become a free agent next summer if he declines his player option with the Warriors, sparking rumors that he is set to leave the Bay Area.
In a recent report, NBA executives shared their belief that Kevin Durant will indeed leave Golden State, especially now that he has won it all and has nothing left to prove.
Article Continues BelowThe Knicks are legitimate threats to landing Durant in 2019's free agency. Durant's business manager, Rich Kleiman, is a Knicks fan and his friend, Royal Ivey, is an assistant to head coach David Fizdale, so the connection is all there.
However, according to Anthony Slater of The Athletic, via Bleacher Report, the Warriors “in zero way fear the Knicks” to sign Durant considering what they have built over the past few years.
The New York franchise continues to be the most valuable team in the NBA, but basketball-wise, they haven't been great for the longest time. They last reached the playoffs in 2012 and won less than 40 games in the past five seasons.
Golden State, meanwhile, has won three titles in the last four years, with Durant winning back-to-back finals MVP in the last two.
