One night after LeBron James scored 38 points in a Cleveland Cavaliers win, Kevin Durant of the Golden State Warriors did exactly the same.
Durant top-scored for the defending champions as they sent back the New Pelicans to Earth with a 118-92 trouncing. He shot the ball well, hitting 15 of his 27 shots from the field to go along with eight rebounds and five assists.
His scoring total allowed him to match James for fifth in the all-time playoffs ladder for points per game.

Highly regarded as the two best basketball players on the planet, James and Durant may very well be on a collision course for a second-straight NBA Finals matchup — third between their teams — unless their most likely opponents in the Boston Celtics and Houston Rockets, respectively, can do something about it.
In this year's playoffs, Durant and James have been performing at an insane level. The Warriors forward is averaging 28.4 points on 48 percent field goal shooting. Meanwhile, the Cavs royalty holds a playoff scoring average of 34.8 points on a success rate of 54 percent in every shot.
Durant is one of the most, if not the most, unstoppable offensive machines in NBA history. His combination of size and skill has continued to produce headaches to opponents and the Warriors are reaping the benefits. In fact, they figure to continue doing so over the next few years barring anything unforeseen.
Interestingly, Pelicans star Anthony Davis is second only to Michael Jordan on the list, although the sample size is still very small for the young power forward.
