With Stephen Curry out against the Minnesota Timberwolves it was known that Kevin Durant was going to have to take on a bigger role for the Golden State Warriors, and he sure seemed to do that. In the game, Kevin Durant played 39 minutes and he continued to keep jacking up shots.

Durant went 11-for-31 from the field including 5-for-12 from deep. He also shot 12-for-12 from the free throw line on the way to 39 points.

That 39 points weren't enough though and the Minnesota Timberwolves came out ahead 109-103. After Durant, it was Klay Thompson adding 21 points, five rebounds and four assists. After those two guys though the bench didn't provide much and that is was ended up doing them in.

For the Timberwolves they were led by Karl-Anthony Towns who played 39 minutes putting up 31 points and 16 rebounds.

He seemed to will the team down the stretch and help snap the Wolves three-game losing streak. This was a big win for the Wolves, but might be a bigger loss for the Warriors as they try to catch the Houston Rockets for the number one overall seed.

The loss dropped them a game back of the Rockets, and if the Rockets are able to beat the Dallas Mavericks without James Harden on Sunday night, the Rockets will hold a 1.5 game advantage.

There has also been no update given on Curry on when he will return but until he does expect Durant to continue to try and step up in his place.
