The Golden State Warriors fell short of their goal of making the playoffs, but franchise superstar Stephen Curry had a miraculous season. The next step for him and the organization is signing an extension.

The Warriors clearly feel very confident that will happen in the coming months, per Drew Schiller:

This is obviously a massive sigh of relief for the Warriors and all of their fans. Steph is eligible for a four-year, $215.4 million extension this summer. He's technically expected to be an unrestricted free agent in 2022. While a deal of that magnitude would keep Curry in the Bay Area until he's 38, it seems like a no-brainer.

He's showing no signs of slowing down, having just won the scoring title after averaging 32.0 points per game while also making a case for MVP. The veteran guard put himself all out there and he deserves to be rewarded, but the Warriors must add more assets around him. Their offense struggled to produce, with much more consistency needed from the likes of Draymond Green, Kelly Oubre Jr. (if he's back), and Andrew Wiggins. Having James Wiseman healthy next season will also be a plus if he's still on the roster, though the Dubs could look to make a big trade to upgrade the win-now talent level.

It was never much of a doubt that Stephen Curry would stay put, but there it is from Bob Myers' mouth: he should be around for the long haul. With his running mate Klay Thompson back in 2021-22 at some point as well, the Warriors will be looking to make some noise.
