Most NBA pundits crowned the Cleveland Cavaliers as the runaway winners of last Thursday’s trade deadline. After all, remaking a roster that was old and slow defensively to suddenly becoming young and fast is nothing short of a miracle.

But Bleacher Report’s Howard Beck would beg to differ. According to Beck, the Warriors were the true winners of the trade deadline by not making any deals.

Content to keep the team intact with no glaring weaknesses from their bench, general manager Bob Myers decided to let this team ride out their recent losses by not messing with team chemistry.

In a video blog that explains his take on Golden States’ stance to stay put, Beck says:

“..the defending champs are still, by far, the most talented team in the NBA. And nothing that happened at the trade deadline changed that.”

By essentially remaining the exact same team that started the season, Beck believes that despite the Cavs’ flurry of deals, the Warriors are far superior to them. In fact, he goes on to say that Cleveland, with one less superstar in Kyrie Irving, are less talented than last year’s Finals team.

Should they meet in the Finals, Beck offers his own fearless forecast, saying:

“..the Cavs will get smoked by the Warriors—the real winners of the trade deadline.”

The Warriors lead the entire NBA in the standings with a 44-13 win-loss card. But the Houston Rockets have gained some ground on them and are now just a game behind the Bay Area squad.

Even so, if Beck is right, the Warriors have nothing to worry about.
