Armed with a new and lucrative contract, Golden State Warriors star guard Stephen Curry has vowed to make as much, not just on the court, but also outside of it in the coming years. The former back-to-back MVP made it known that he wants to leave a legacy where he will be remembered not only as a basketball player, but also on how he impacted a number of communities in the Bay Area.

Curry recently spoke with Janie McCauley of the Associated Press, via The Washington Times, where he shared his plans on making his ideas happen, on how to improve lives of people in these communities. He also added that he now only wants to use his money in giving back, but also his platform as well.

“I don’t want to get too deep into it but for the last couple years trying to figure out how I can make the most impact off the court on a consistent and impactful basis. Going forward and obviously keying in on the Bay Area specifically to hopefully leave a lasting impact for all the good that has happened in my life and my family here since I’ve been here the last eight years. Obviously over the next five to really impact the community for the better and use my platform, not only just dollars but my platform and connections and ideas to make that happen. The contract puts more of a responsibility to make that happen and I’m obviously aware of that. And I have a great team around me that’s going to help me do that.”

This definitely says a lot about how Curry is as a person, proving that he is not selfish in sharing his blessings. He has been very active in humanitarian work over the past years, and the same can be expected from him for at least the next four seasons.

From being considered one of the most underpaid players in the NBA, the 29-year-old Davidson product signed a supermax contract earlier this summer. He is slated to be paid $201 million until the summer of 2022, but also has a player option for the final year of his contract. This is a big increase to what he was getting paid the past four years, which will allow him to help more people and also touch more lives.
